How to explain "Where the babies come from?"
Where do babies come from?
Do you remember when you ask yourself or someone else ( if you were brave enough) this question first time? Do you? How old you were back then? Whom did you ask? And most important question, what answer did you get back?
Some people have been told what they were found in a cabbage, other -- brought to parents by stork. Some believed they were present from beautiful Fairy form faraway Fairyland to their parents for the exceptional love they had for each other...and some, even in their adulthood still hear that, they are definitely from the moon!!!
If you think about providing your child with a "story" and not mentioning the truth, then in this lens I'll try to cover all possible answers I can think of right now and will add new ones as soon as they come up to my head...
Found in a cabbage?
Did your child ask this question already?
I'm interested, those of adults, who gave the answer " You were found in the cabbage...", did they got another, following ones, such as, in what kind of cabbage they were found (broccoli, brussel's sprouts or cauliflowers)? Where you found the cabbage patch (for those who live in the City)? Or how do you get there, or can he(she) can go there too to find a sister or brother ( or both)?
Kids will be back for the same question over and over until they are satisfied with all answers from which they will create "whole picture" for themselves.
But if you chose this version of the answer, then later you'll need to change this version for other one, more appropriate for the child's age (if kid would like ask you again). Kids are much smarter than we thinking about them. When child understood that was a lie, even this question still bother him(her), I don't think he(she) will choose to ask you about it again.
So, if you did say they were found in cabbage, then to make it believable "prove" your words: at least you can do read the books, watch cartoons or movies about this subject with your child.
For girls you can tell the story about Cabbage Patch Kids, or even buy one of the Cabbage Doll.

Does your daughter/son believe in Fairyland and existing of fairies and all kind off magical creatures? If you think that to know the truth is to early for your child, or simply don't want to tell the truth about it at all, then fairy version might be exactly what you need.

For those who live in village or small town and who can see a stork time to time the version about the stork 's bringing babies might be look more believable. At least this part of story its more appealing to me, than falling from the moon or any other planet... These birds are really beautiful and gracious, and very smart, as the matter of fact.
Some cartoons, books and movies, such as "Dumbo" for example, where stork's bringing cubs/babies to each animal in the circus, can provide "proves" to your words about stork's story for your child:))
